Daniel Berger withdraws from Genesis Invitational

Daniel Berger won’t be going for back-to-back wins this week.

Following a walk-off eagle to win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Berger has decided to withdraw from this week’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera. Berger, who has jumped over 100 spots in the OWGR over the past year thanks to two wins and another five top-five finishes, did not give a reason for his decision.

Despite Berger’s WD, the Genesis still has a loaded field highlighted by Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau. Tournament host Tiger Woods is not competing as he recovers from back surgery.

Because it is an invitational, an alternate has not been named to the field. However, if the field dips below its current 120 players, a substitute will be added.

The Genesis begins on Thursday. Adam Scott is the defending champ.
