Former major winner joins NBC Sports for LPGA, PGA Tour coverage

Days after finishing T-31 at the LPGA’s Gainbridge event, Morgan Pressel is joining NBC Sports as an analyst and on-course reporter.

In a press release Tuesday, Pressel will begin providing insights this week at the LPGA’s Drive On Championship, with future tournaments like the U.S. Women’s Open, Amundi Evian Championship and Solheim Cup also on the docket. Pressel will also work on the network’s PGA Tour coverage, starting at the Honda Classic beginning March 18. She is not a greenhorn behind the mic, serving in the past as a guest reporter for NBC’s LPGA coverage along with a stint as an analyst for FOX Sports during the U.S Senior Women’s Open.

However, the new role doesn’t mean Pressel is retiring, as she stated she will continue to compete on the LPGA Tour.

“I’m excited to join the NBC Sports and Golf Channel family in a greater capacity this year, alongside my competitive playing schedule on the LPGA Tour,” Pressel said. “It is humbling for me that NBC has given me the opportunity to build on my experience in this area of our game and to learn from some of the best people in the business in the process. I can’t wait to get started.”

Pressel, 32, rose to prominence in 2001 when she became the youngest player to qualify for a U.S. Women’s Open at 12 years old (a mark beaten by Lexi Thompson in 2007). Pressel also became the youngest winner of a modern major with her victory at the 2007 Kraft Nabisco Championship just months shy of her 19th birthday. Though she’s won just one LPGA event since her major breakthrough, Pressel has made six Solheim Cup teams for the United States and notched 14 career Top 10s at majors.
