Dustin Johnson gave quite an interesting response when asked Tuesday for his favorite Masters tradition. We’re pretty sure we know what young Abel Gallegos would say if asked the same thing. And it wouldn’t be, “the sandwiches.”
On Tuesday night, Gallegos got quite a thrill when he bumped into Tiger Woods in the Augusta National clubhouse before the annual Champions Dinner started. Although the reigning Latin America Amateur champ isn’t invited to the special meal, he had every right to be in the building.
Per tradition, the Masters allows amateurs in the field to stay on the clubhouse’s top floor, an area known as the Crow’s Nest. (By the way, DJ never qualified for the Masters as an amateur so he never got this experience.) And while this year players are taking turns doing that due to COVID-19, the 18-year-old from Argentina happened to draw Tuesday night.
Talk about being in the right place at the right time.
